Imelda Skeete Our Mother
Imelda Brathwaite was born in Crab Hill St Lucy Barbados on the 15th of February 1925 to parents Winiefried Brathwaite Greg Maloney, she attended the St. Swithens Girls School from 1930 to 1939. She got married to Luton Skeete from Rock Hall St Lucy in 1945 and continued to live in Crab Hill St Lucy until 1948 when she moved to Rock Hall St Lucy and is still there at present.
As a devoted christian Imelda attended church from a very early age at the Crab Hill penticostal church and later on at the Durhams penticostal church where she is still a member, she is the mother of twelve children, Anita Alexander, Merton Skeete, Kelvin Skeete, Henry Skeete, Joan Springer, Mona Carlton, Oswald Skeete, Marilyn Small, Melvin Skeete, Pauline Edghill, Lynthia Skeete and Jackie Skeete, she is also the grand mother of twenty three and great grand mother of ten.
During her early years she was a very good seamstress and made clothes for several women and children, she continued to make clothes way into her late 70s, she is now retired and is just relaxing at home, at age 96 she can still read the bible and sing hyms, she is an insperation to us all.
