In the late1700 hundreds as the slave trade was still in progress, two people arrived in Barbados one from England and one from West Africa, these two people did not know each other untill they met at Highland plantation St.Thomas in Barbados to work, Louise Rosetta Skeete a white indentured servant from England and Agustus Foster who was renamed as this by his slave owners, Louise had five children from Agustus but they were never married, the five children carried the Skeete name, Mary, John,Herbert, Benjimin and Beatrice.
Mary Skeete and John Skeete had no children and died at a young age, however, Herbert Skeete, Benjimin Skeete and Beatrice Skeete had two, three and five children respectively, not much is known about the children of Beatrice Skeete and Herbert Skeete but Benjimin Skeete had a son name Edmond Skeete and a daughter Louise Skeete named after her grand mother. little is mention about Benjimin Skeete's wife her name was Elizabeth Durrant (Skeete).
Edmond Skeete born in 1887, married to Adrianna Corbin-Foster who became Adrinna Skeete at marrage, they went on to have seven children,
Everal, Luton, Darlington, LLoyd, Orleyan, Morgan and Myrl, five of the seven children migrated to England in the 1950s, leaving Luton and Morgan as the only two children in Barbados, meanwhile, Edmond the father was a worker at Chance Hall in St. Lucy, took sick and died in 1948. Adrianna Skeete lived several years after the death of her husband Edmond, she died in 1984, all of Adrinna and Edmond's children are now deceased.
Back in 1942, a handsome young man by the name of Luton Skeete, met up with a beautiful young lady by the name of Imelda Brathwaite while he was at work at Fairfield sugar factory in the parish of St Lucy. Imelda fell in love with this handsome young man and was determined to make him her boyfriend and later her husband. By September 1944 they had their first child, a beautiful daughter name Idel Anita Brathwaite, they quickly got married the next year in 1945, in 1947 was the arrival of their second child, a son name Merton Skeete, at that time they were living in Crab Hill St Lucy near her mother and other family members.
In 1948 Luton and Imelda decided to move to Rock Hall, St Lucy where all of his family were located, all the other children of Luton and Imelda were born in Rock Hall St Lucy, Kelvin, Henry, Joan, Mona, Oswald, Marilyn, Melvin, Pauline, Lynthia and Jackie.
Our dad Luton Skeete passed away in February 2011, may he rest in peace, all other family members above are still alive, Anita, Joan, Mona, Marilyn and Melvin in Canada, Henry, Oswald and Jackie are in the United States, while Merton, Kelvin, Pauline and Lynthia are in Barbados
